Our Power, Our Planet – A Tribute to Sustainability Inspired by the Galápagos Islands.
On April 22, our school proudly joined the global celebration of Earth Day 2025 under the powerful theme: «Our Power, Our Planet.» This year’s message focused on renewable energy and environmental action, and our event stood out as a vibrant and educational tribute to the ongoing fight for a sustainable future.
As part of the initiative, our school reached out to the official Earth Day platform, www.earth.org, to have our event featured on the global Earth Day map. In the days leading up to the celebration, teachers shared a video with their classes to introduce the day’s theme. This video was presented by a special guest—Leo, the main character from the new Disney Plus documentary, Sea Lions of the Galápagos, which premiered on Earth Day itself.
This year, we placed a special spotlight on the Galápagos Islands, a world treasure for inspiring Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Under the guidance of their English teachers, students gave engaging presentations highlighting the islands’ Zero Fossil Fuel Initiative and their groundbreaking transition to renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
The celebration featured performances that were both creative and educational. Students stepped into roles as BBC reporters and tourists, vividly bringing the Galápagos Islands to life for the audience. The highlight of the event was a surprise appearance by Leo himself, who danced his way onto the stage and invited everyone to celebrate and protect our planet.
The event was filled with joy, inspiration, and pride. It offered a moment for our school community to reflect on the importance of sustainability and to recognize the Galápagos Islands as a shining example of environmental leadership.

A fun and meaningful way to honor our one and only home—Planet Earth. Together, we celebrated not just a day, but a commitment to a brighter, greener future.
