ENGLISH:
On Thursday, October the 10th, the Minuto Civico was held and we commemorated 2 important dates for our country.
The first one was 9th of October, when Guayaquil´s Independence is celebrated. The Tigers´ group talked about this city. It is a very large city, where the Guayas River runs through it and its people it´s very friendly. The kids colored its flag, learning about what its colors represent. Light blue stands for the sky and the river and the 3 white stars in the middle represent the values and history of the city. To finish off, the kids raised their flags and shouted: ¡Que viva Guayaquil!
The second date we talked about was October 12th, which speaks about the meeting of two worlds. The Tigers group told the kids in Tomasito, that a man named Christopher Columbus sailed from Europe across the ocean, in 3 boats which were La Niña, La Pinta y La Santa María, until he reached America. When he arrived, he met all the people who lived on this continent. They dressed differently, ate different food and even had a different language. This allowed them to learn about a different culture and also people of America learned about Europe, which is why this date is known as the meeting of two worlds, taking Europe and America as reference.
