The students from eighth to first baccalaureate  (MYP), led by their English teachers,  presented the Lights, Camera, Learning project in the school’s Coliseum, which demonstrated the skills developed by the students in the creation of a short film. The students explained the process that included: the development of a premise, the definition of roles in each team, the writing of the script, the creation of a story board and technical script, the design of the promotional poster and the filming considering different shots. Finally, the process included editing, sound and music creation, and the insertion of subtitles and credits.

This event was attended by authorities, teachers, invited students and parents who proudly witnessed authentic presentations in fluent English, which demonstrated the empowerment of their children in a challenging and exciting project, which resulted not only in a significant improvement in the English language, but also in teamwork, organization, conflict resolution and much more.

This project was carried out prior to the Awards Ceremony of the Third Edition of the Short Film Festival. Without a doubt, this was significant learning that was very aligned with the demands of the IB Continuum.

The 2024 Short Film Festival Award Ceremony took place at our school with great enthusiasm.

The grand finale was the Red Carpet Day, graced by the presence of the People’s Choice Awards and Academy Awards finalists. Our red carpet shimmered brightly this year at the Coliseum, attended by students, teachers, authorities, and parents who added splendor to the event. Special surprises included golden characters that enhanced the festive atmosphere and the presence of renowned reporter, Luis Felipe Jaramillo, the Second Baccalaureate English teacher, who conducted interviews with the finalists. The finalists posed for the cameras amidst endless applause from the audience.

Following the red carpet event, the school auditorium hosted the Academy Awards Ceremony. Senior student presenters, Ana Belén Echeverri and Joaquín Albornoz shone in their roles. The judges, Verónica Vera, Francisco Valdivieso, Nicolás Navarrete and Alan Falcony, faced the challenging task of selecting the best short films and promotional posters.

The event was complete with certificates for all participants and trophies for the winners.

This collective effort resulted in an emotional and memorable event. Until next year!
